Novoshakhtinskoe open pit mine sets record in monthly coal production

In February 2015 the team of Novoshakhtinskoe open pit mine produced a record amount of coal. As of the end of February, production at Primorskugol’s largest mine exceeded 500,000 tonnes – (505,400 tonnes). The previous maximum monthly output of 482,000 tonnes was recorded at Novoshakhtinskoe open pit mine in December 2014.

Coal sales from this production site in February reached 504,000 tonnes, a 277% increase on sales in February 2014. In January and February, for the first time ever, coal shipments amounted to 1.01 million tonnes, which is 569,000 tonnes (228%) more than in the same period in 2014.

On 4 February 2015 the mine broke a daily railcar loading record of 333 cars – the average daily loading rate is 215 cars.

Miners of Novoshakhtinskoe open pit mine dedicated their operational achievements to the coming 70th anniversary of victory in World War II. To commemorate the heroic deeds of the Soviet people during the war, the teams of Primorskugol have launched a production competition called ‘Work watch’, which includes increased production, shipment, overburden removal targets, and tighter quality assurance for mined and shipped coals.
