SUEK produced 24.7 million tonnes of coal between January and March 2015, a 2% decrease on the corresponding period in 2014.
SUEK sales volumes in January-March 2015 increased by 12% (compared to the same period the previous year) to 27 million tonnes of coal.
Domestic sales rose by 20% year-on-year to 15.9 million tonnes of coal, of which, 12.7 million tonnes were supplied to electric power plants. Sales growth in the domestic market was driven by an increased demand for coal from the Russian power generating companies due to low water in rivers which in turn resulted in decreased production of hydroelectricity.
International sales volumes grew by 3% to 11.1 million tonnes of coal. SUEK’s key international sales markets include China, the UK, South Korea, Japan, the Netherlands, Taiwan and Germany.
