The ‘Zubochistka’ (‘Toothpick’) environmental project, implemented in SUEK-Kuzbass, won the Russian ECO BEST AWARD 2018 in the ‘Best Social Project in the Field of Ecology’ category.
The main goal of the ‘Zubochistka’ (‘Toothpick’) project was to attract the attention of people residing in the Kemerovo region to environmental protection and development of the corporate volunteer movement in the region. During the environmental marathon (7-9 July 2017), 160 volunteers cleared more than 60 kilometres of tourist tracks in the Celestial Teeth area (Kuznetsk, Alatau region). This area is very popular with Siberian tourists who use it to hike in summer and ski in winter, which is why the neighbourhood is often filled with garbage and household waste.
Members of SUEK-Kuzbass Work Teams and the Youth Council, SUEK’s employees in Kuzbass, as well as volunteers from other regional organisations took part in the project.
ECO BEST AWARD is an independent public award for the best products and practices in the field of ecology, energy and resource saving. This year, the award winners were Polyus, SDS-Ugol, Coca-Cola, MTS, MGTS, Gazpromneft-MNPZ, Polymetal International and other companies.
